Tennessee Titans Release Defensive Tackle Jordan Elliott Days After Securing First NFL Season Win
The team announced the departure of the defensive lineman just days after securing their first victory of the NFL season.

The Tennessee Titans recently achieved their first victory of the National Football League season, overcoming the Indianapolis Colts with a 26-20 score in Week 6. This win offered a rare highlight in what has been a challenging start to the season for the team.
However, any celebratory atmosphere at the Titans’ Nashville headquarters was quickly overshadowed by a significant roster change. The organization announced on Tuesday the release of defensive tackle Jordan Elliott, attributing the decision to an unspecified "incident" that occurred at the team’s facility.
Details Emerge on Elliott's Departure
Elliott had been a part of the Titans’ defensive line, having followed head coach Robert Saleh from his previous role as defensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers, where Elliott played for two seasons. During his tenure with the Titans this season, Elliott participated in five games, accumulating 11 total tackles.
In an official statement, the Titans confirmed the timing of the event:
On Thursday, Oct. 15, there was an incident at our team facility involving Jordan Elliott. Following our review of the incident, we have made the decision to release Elliott from our roster. We will have no further comment on the matter.
Further specifics regarding the nature of the incident were not immediately disclosed.
Other Roster Adjustments and Upcoming Matchup
In other team news, defensive back Alontae Taylor was notably absent from the lineup, a decision that was characterized as a "coach’s decision." Head coach Saleh chose not to elaborate on the circumstances surrounding Taylor’s inactive status.
Taylor had been a prominent fixture in the Titans’ defense, playing nearly every snap in the first five games of the current season. He had signed a substantial three-year, $58 million contract with the Tennessee franchise in March and had already recorded 19 tackles and one sack across those initial five matchups.
Looking ahead, the Titans are preparing to return to Nissan Stadium to host the Cleveland Browns, who currently lead the AFC North division.
