A Cocoa woman faces attempted murder charges after allegedly tracking her boyfriend and shooting a woman in his car.

A Florida woman has been taken into custody and charged with attempted murder following an incident over the weekend where she allegedly tracked her boyfriend to a late-night rendezvous with another individual and discharged a firearm into a vehicle.
Katherine Dale Kelly, 24, from Cocoa, reportedly informed investigators that her intention was to "make a point" after she suspected her boyfriend, Elijah Baker, of infidelity. This detail emerged from police reports reviewed by authorities.
Official records from the Brevard County Sheriff's Office indicate Kelly faces several charges, including attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, discharging a firearm into a vehicle, and illegal use of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Details of the Confrontation
The reported confrontation occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning within Port St. John. According to accounts, Elijah Baker was driving Kelly’s Volkswagen and picked up the victim, Angel Adenau, around 1:20 a.m.
Ms. Kelly subsequently used a tracking method to ascertain Baker’s location and then traveled to the area via an Uber service. Upon arrival, she reportedly approached the passenger side of the vehicle and fired a single shot through the window. The round struck Ms. Adenau in her left shoulder.
Following the shooting, Mr. Baker transported Ms. Adenau to her home, where emergency services were contacted. Ms. Adenau was later taken to a local hospital for medical attention.
Investigation and Alleged Threats
During the course of the investigation, Kelly asserted that her actions were in self-defense. However, law enforcement officials reportedly recovered text messages from Elijah Baker’s cellphone that paint a different picture. These messages allegedly show Kelly accusing Baker of being unfaithful and making threats to shoot someone prior to the Saturday morning incident.
Kelly is scheduled to appear in court for her next hearing on November 24, as confirmed by the sheriff’s office.
